"Can you hear me?" she asked. "Around the year 2030, ten years from now, we will be in a position where we set off an irreversible chain reaction beyond human control that will most likely lead to the end of our civilization as we know it."

She described the eagerness to frack for shale gas, and to search for dwindling oil and gas reserves as absurd. "You don't listen to the science because you are only interested in solutions that will enable you to carry on like before," she said.
